after few days to rest and regroup, i’ve got major stampede withdrawal. it’s a crazy whirlwind for ten days straight and then it seems like all of the sudden the whole city just shuts down (in body and mind alike). the streets are empty, the restaurants aren’t very busy and the general mood is a bit lethargic. it’s not that we don’t need some downtime after all of the action, but it’s hard to keep the momentum going. i mean, it really is a crazy ride. no rest for the wicked though, tyler and i just keep going. get a sleep in here and there and now we can actually finish some work that has taken a back seat to cowboy boots and deep fried food. we’ve been working on the blog every single day and flipping through endless photos has kept me inspired and excited about all that is on the horizon. i especially loved looking through this series from the last sunday down at the stampede grounds. at this point in the game, i was beyond tired and my feet were WRECKED. i decided to wear something a bit more relaxed, so i threw on these denim overalls and this bomb of a shirt (courtesy of equipment).
the pieces that really brought this outfit to life, though were the beautiful necklace and earrings from canada’s own hillberg & berk. turquoise jewellery is the ultimate stampede accessory. just google cowgirl and i guarantee you’ll spot endless amounts of turquoise inspiration. it might be for the obvious reason that the stone is hugely popular in native american jewellery, but it might also be for the simple fact that it just looks so good paired with denim and a good tan. i love the pop of colour contrasted with pastel shades. this sirocco necklace from the brand’s spring/summer 2015 collection gives a ton of versatility with it’s length, wrap it around your neck for a choker look or leave dangling with a white dress, you can even wrap it around your wrist and wear it as a bracelet! you can check out some of my other favourite turquoise pieces from the collection in my previous post. hillberg & berk also offers a wide selection of dainty stud earrings that help give your look an extra dose of femininity. don’t you love the way the powder pink looks with all that blue? a perfect summer combo!
