Depending on where you live, you may be lucky enough to see fall’s changing colours. If you are in Canada, you may have even already seen snow! THE HORROR! I am definitely not ready for winter just yet! A couple weeks ago, we escaped this winter wonderland  to spend some time by the water, give my skin some hydration and relax for a few days.

We packed only a few essentials and amongst those were my favourite Elizabeth Arden products. Some I’ve been coming back to regularly over the years and some I am trying for the very first time. The PREVAGE line has always been on my radar, but I just wasn’t ready for skincare that was meant for preventing and addressing the signs of aging. Fast forward a couple of years, facing the inevitable realities of time, getting off the pill and finding out my skin actually doesn’t know how to behave. It’s been an eye-opening experience, but slowly I have FINALLY gotten a handle on what it is that has been causing such irregularities. Turns out dry climates totally make your skin oilier. It overcompensates for the lack of hydration by producing more oils and, as a result, never ending acne! I started with drinking a lot of water, a must, at least 3 litres per day but then realized that moisturizing a few more times than usual actually helped remedy that problem without having to run to the bathroom every 5 minutes. I am now at that stage where thinking preventatively is totally reasonable (if not late all together) and while I have the hydration of my skin under control I also want the products I use to work for me in other ways.

The award winning PREVAGE line by Elizabeth Arden is designed to not only promote firmness in your skin but also visibly reduces wrinkles and most importantly (for me) deals with discolouration and sun damage. Sun exposure is easily one of my vices, I just can’t help it. I love basking in the warm glow, it makes me happy and makes me look better, BUT inevitably, overtime I have seen the damaging effects it has on my skin. My cute freckles have slowly merged into bigger spots and my facialist (hi Annie!) always points them out. It’s normal that we can’t always prevent sun exposure, and reapplying sunscreen every three hours is a chore not everyone is willing to commit to. The PREVAGE Anti-aging Moisture Cream has SPF 30 and along with the PREVAGE City Smart Broad Spectrum Sunscreen (SPF 50) will not only help you prevent further sun damage but also works to protect against pollution. Fun fact, the moisture cream actually works all day to protect and hydrate dry skin, so you can take it easier on the re-applications.

The PREVAGE Anti-aging Overnight Cream could be a great nighttime solution for those living in really dry climates, but unlike its daily counterpart, it doesn’t have SPF, so do consider the sunscreen ON TOP if you are going to wear it in the daytime. This cream, however, has been developed specifically to work with your skin’s sleep cycle, meaning it works and treats the skin best when at state of rest. So unlike typical night creams which provide extra hydration, there is even more complex science behind this one. With both of these products I recommend using the PREVAGE Anti-aging Daily Serum for a twice a day boost of hydration and protection my skin needs now more than ever. With our hectic travel schedule, changing climates and time zones, irregular sleep patterns and many added stresses associated with being in transit, it’s a real treat to be able to reach into my bag at the beginning (or end) of the day and infuse my skin with all the best acting ingredients, knowing that I can leave, at least some of the work, to someone else. xoxo
