At the beginning of Stampede week it was hard to keep up with both work and play so when we finally got all of our responsibilities out of our way it was only fair to spend some quality time on the grounds. Nothing is as fun as shooting on the midway during Stampede. All the colours and energy make up for the other 355 days of the year when Calgary basically sleeps waiting for Stampede to come rolling back in (#sorrtnotsorry, still love you yyc!).

I totally said this in my last post but I swear this year was NOT sponsored by Coach, although yes, they make the MOST PERFECT western pieces. I actually bought all of what you see in these photos. I realized watching some bloggers’ IG stories that it’s sometimes hard to distinguish what is real, what is fake and what is a joke, the use of the #notsposnored hashtag leads even me to wonder what is actually being overlooked. I’ve also noticed a lot more often the use of the word ‘content’ being thrown around like it’s the new standard and it made me think of reality television.

What I think makes reality TV so intriguing is that nobody ever acknowledges the presence of cameras. If, in fact this IS all ‘reality’ then we should be able to hear or see some BTS action from time to time, yet in that respect it’s treated in quite a bizzare way. TBH I would like to see the same concept applied to bloggers and ‘content creators’, yes we all understand what your job is, I don’t really want a play by play of your daily schedule but rather the highlights. Stop telling us that you are ‘creating lots of content’ (stay tuned!) and just tell us when it’s available to be seen, OR alternatively give us a peek into what it is you are creating. Referring to it in that way makes me question the motives of creating as a necessity vs. for the love of what they do. In the grand scheme of things do I really want the magic of it all to disappear? I don’t know, am I wrong? Is it because I live it and know it inside and out that I feel this way?

Regardless, I will always love shooting and sharing beautiful things in beautiful and fun places, so for now here are some pics that I hope will inspire more of you to come live the Stampede with us in the years to come! xoxo
