i realize that i haven’t been posting since i got into new york. between trying to catch as many events as i can as well as shop and spend time with my friends and see everything in my capacity before i leave there is little time to sit down at the computer and type. i don’t want to just quickly post for the sake of posting, so instead i am waiting and hopefully on my way back home i will have the extra time to start updating you with what i have been up to for the last five days. i have a couple of last minute things left to do, including a visit to my favourite place in new york, washington square park. before i became all jaded about post secondary institutions my dream was to go to nyu. i even had secret plans of transferring here during my first year at university of calgary. plans don’t always pan out, i was a different person then and am most definitely a different person now. not to mention that new york city looks (and feels) stunningly different during the warmer seasons. it has been seven years since my last visit and i am looking at everything with completely different eyes. so much has changed, this morning on our way for coffee i noticed that one of the coffee shops i visited in the past has turned into a starbucks. all of a sudden there are urban outfitter stores popping up on every corner and they converted a portion of the times square streets into pedestrian walkways. even the famed soup nazi of seinfeld fame has turned into a franchise. if possible new york has become an even faster and more stressful city. the contrast between the west coast is growing at astronomical speeds. i was definitely model spotting since it is fashion week until next week. ran into ikeliene stange at chelsea market, met a ton of people at the bloggers conference, caught a f/w 2011 fashion show, partied at some ‘so last year’ exclusive clubs, which are still ironically attended by kanye west and met with my fellow blogger maegan morrison of travel, write, draw… oh and caught some playboy bunnies at the marc store on bleecker street. so all in all a pretty busy and full of excitement (and drama) trip. i can’t wait to post all the photos for you to see. xoxo
