thinking of stefka

you would think the seasons changed again looking at the weather outside, all of a sudden the parka can go into hiding, it’s still not warm weather but anything above 0 and signifying melting snow, suggests the perfect opportunity to run out and take photos. because of this unexpected turn of events the outfit today was not planned, but i do enjoy pairing stripes with flowers. has it gotten to the point of being cliche? probably. i think that you could sell me anything as long as it had stripes. stripes AND flowers? even better! worn under the scarf, those pearls remind me so much of my grandma. even though they are obviously plastic and badly threaded (maybe not even threaded but somehow melted together?) they are my favourite. i bought them for her for 25 cents at a garage sale in winnipeg in 1996, and even though she probably didn’t remember where she got them from, she had them the whole time and she always thought she looked so glamorous wearing them, they were always paired with lipstick. she brought them back to canada when we moved. i wish now, looking back, that i had gotten her a strand of real pearls so she could not only feel, but really be glamourous. every year it was hard to think of the perfect gift for her because she was not a very material person. the answer was just under my nose. now this strand is more worth to me than any real pearls could ever be.
