in yesterday’s class chris told us about andrew wyeth, it was the first time i have heard of him, regarldess i was inspired. he painted this one woman for 15 years in the period from 1970 to 1985. he was accused of having an affair with his model, and because he was married and his wife knew nothing about his involvement in the ‘helga’ project it seemed to be a big deal. i don’t know if it matters whether or not he had an affair with her (on a personal level of course it does) but it makes me a little bit sad that that would attract buyers of his works instead of the talent itself. either way, even though helga is nothing special, she is beautiful in my mind for what she represents. read more about andrew wyeth here
