Having our own place in Toronto has been a real treat, we are now finally able to leave things behind again and have our own little space to use whenever and however we like. The only setback is the lack of en suite laundry, even though there is one in the building it’s always kind of awkward doing it in front of strangers, it’s also rather boring not having things to occupy your time with, c’est la vie… hence this shoot ha! The upside of actually doing laundry (as opposed to opting out in fear of damaging your fabrics for example) is that feeling of re-fresh, and there is nothing more satisfying than pulling out a warm sweater from the dryer and sliding it right on. It’s still winter back at home and funny enough wherever we go the cold follows. LA and Vegas have been the coldest I’ve ever seen these past two weeks. It’s no secret that knitwear saves the day when it comes to layering against the frigid temperatures and my sweaters and I have been inseparable. Adding a beautiful sweater to your look also instantly elevates it, it creates an opportunity to play with the silhouette and weight of the outfit (tuck it in or leave it hanging? leave it open or zip it up? do you go for a chunky knit or a tight crop?…), because I love all of my clothes equally (a good mother never choses a favorite) I want them to have a long life and be well taken care of.  We talk about clothes day in and day out but just as fast as we accumulate and grow our closets so we should also pay attention to how we take care of the clothes and fabrics we own. Even though my heart will always stop when I throw an Acne sweater into a machine, though at this point it’s merely out of habit than real concern. About a year ago I FINALLY started doing my own laundry, no joke, you can read all about it HERE. Ever since then, Downy (along with Tide, which my parents have been using ever since we moved to Canada) has become part of the process and it keeps my knits feeling and (most importantly) looking their best. When the fabrics are conditioned, they are protected from damage like stretching, fading and fuzzing, just like conditioner working on your hair, why would you want to go without it?  We Are Knitters uses Downy to condition all the pieces in their collection and if it’s good enough for the pros it’s good enough for me! So no more loss of shape and softness, and a lot less pilling, you can give your clothes life for seasons to come. And if you’re bored next time you’re at the laundromat, take some selfies. Just saw the latest from Arianna Grande, looks like we’re right on trend with this one! xoxo
