the day after
Nov 18, 2014
the hero of our second instalment of the
smart set 1 piece 10 styles project is the
tulle skirt. with the holidays just around the corner it’s a great piece to play with for a fun christmas party outfit. if you have a structured underlining you can throw in, you can easily create added volume, throw on a fitted top and you have a cute ballerina look, and with a blazer it’s even perfectly suitable for the office. i decided to do something different with my outfit. taking advantage of what’s left of warm days i gave my skirt a casual makeover. if sneakers weren’t enough to take a look from night to day in seconds,
the plaid blouse gives it that extra laid back vibe. this will be your day-after outfit, when you are too tired to stand in front of the mirror making sartorial decisions and want to literally throw on last night’s clothes. switching to a casual top helps give the skirt a fresh new perspective and makes it the versatile piece you can wear over and over again. because we all know those are the pieces that will stand the test of time. don’t limit your cocktail wardrobe to events and special outings. you will never get the use out of your beautiful pieces if they are waiting on the racks collecting dust. adding sporty elements and more casual accents helps bring it down a notch. my personal favourite is pairing midi skirts with oversized sweaters, ala
dentelle & flours, check out the rest of the girls styling their skirts for both day and night below, and special guest this month, eleni from
