As part of our Toronto getaway with Hyundai Canada we decided to finally visit Niagara Falls. Probably one of the most famous date spots in the country so naturally an obvious choice. It was only my second time back and Tyler’s first but you totally get how this is the place of countless proposals, weddings and anniversaries pretty much the moment you get there. Something about the force of this place really makes it hard to look away. There is something to be said for natural beauty, ha!

For those wondering, Niagara Falls is a tricky one for photo lighting. Its location makes it really hard to shoot at both sunrise AND sunset so we made a whole day out of it, even driving out to wine country and seeing what Niagara on the Lake is all about: a quaint little town with all the charm of the old world. This is what I picture New England to be all about and to be fair we were basically at the border so who knows, the influence is probably there.

At the centre of our story, of course, the real hero, our borrowed Hyundai Ioniq and the ultimate date contest in partnership with Tinder. The stakes? Win a date of your own in the Ioniq since there will be a winner selected every month from September to March. All you have to do is swipe right when you see the Hyundai card pop up in your Tinder app or visit www.HyundaiUltimateDate.com to enter.

The similarities between dating and car shopping are as striking as they are hilarious. We all know how important traits like reliability, great personality and intelligence are in a partner. To be totally fair, depending on where you live you may actually end up spending a considerable amount of hours of your life inside your vehicle, probably in traffic, but if you’re lucky also on the wide open road (taking a trip of a lifetime maybe?). Often when you buy a vehicle you are diving into the unknown (I have yet to meet a person who buys the same car twice) and the getting-to-know-you process can present itself with some awkward moments. Before you really get the hang of things you will probably also find out a few things about yourself. Said the girl who managed to stall an automatic engine on the road a few times in her lifetime.

Considering the Ioniq as your next ride can really eliminate the pressures of the unknown, especially with the newest hybrid, rechargeable plug-in hybrid (called “electric plus”) and battery electric options for you to choose from, lowering the costs of driving, decreasing your effects on the environment with up to 200km of emission free driving, and making for the quietest drive of your life. All this in a super sleek, sporty body that will make heads turn. And most importantly, let’s not forget the safety features like autonomous emergency braking and blind spot information systems to help you get where you need to be. Personally I am a huge fan of all the digital advances in cars right now, from wireless phone charging to Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and its own GPS system that takes the phone out of our hands and on the steering wheel! And just wait till you see this baby in the dark, with light up features on the door it takes the experience to a whole new level, and bound to impress any date.

After having driven (and being driven around in) the Ioniq for a couple of days it was hard to say goodbye, but unlike a date, I can 100% say that another encounter is inevitable. Though I think Tyler has nothing to worry about 😉 I can’t wait to hear about your experiences with the Ioniq, definitely excited to see where it takes you. xoxo
