things don’t only change on the outside with the coming of fall. cozy elements are sneaking their way into the house as well. as the days grow shorter, cuddling up on our living room couch becomes somewhat of a ritual and movie night happens more than once a week. my favourite things about fall, apart from beautiful knits and this years forest green (yes, the colour), are all the beautiful home accents popping up in the shops. just because it’s fall doesn’t mean we have to abandon decorating with our favourite colours; in our case, that’s white. beautiful coffee table books come out just in time for those early christmas shoppers, along with those highly anticipated titles that you’ve been excited to read since their announcement (‘not that kind of girl’ anyone?). no better time to pick up your reading list again than with the cooling weather outside. a new addition to fall offerings this year are glade wax melts by johnson. leave the air fresheners in the bathroom; glade wax melts are a fun take on a classic. with the  help of a warmer that you plug into the wall, the small cube insert melts gradually releasing your fragrance of choice. from apple cinnamon to cashmere woods to clean linen, each melt keeps a consistent fragrance and lingers even after the warmer has been turned off (limited- edition fragrances are also available). for those who love changing their home decor with the seasons, changing smells is just part of the experience. perhaps a selection of warmers could be the next step in the evolution of the melt.
what are some of my favourite things about fall? every year my list changes, but in 2014, i am pining for :
1. new/classic fall styles. every year i go looking for the perfect knit turtleneck sweater. not a cowl-neck but the kind that hugs you in just the right way with an oversize fit and the perfect colour. this season, surprisingly, the choice is beige. 2. spring cleaning and fall…. ? accumulating? i store away my favourite things all around the house like a squirrel does with nuts for the coming winter. this year i love that white is sticking around. 3. my must-reads. with the beginning of september everything is new; september, rather than january, is the true start of the year. for a fashion girl this is where it all begins and why not throw some pop culture education in there somewhere. reading up on what’s important and trending is just part of the job… the best job in the world. xoxo
